Volleyball goes 2-1, Solbrig, Kalinowski and Kudronowicz named All-Tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. - The University of Wisconsin Volleyball team defeated Johnson & Wales (Denver) and fell to host Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday night before beating Central (Iowa) on Saturday.

The Pioneers improve to 13-5 overall (1-1 WIAC). Sophomore Lita Solbrig, freshman Stephanie Kalinowski and sophomore Olivia Kudronowicz were each named to the All-Tournament team.

On Friday night the Pioneers defeated JWU 25-14, 25-17, 25-18. Solbrig finished with eight kills (.500 hitting percentage) and added three block assists. Kalinowski led the backcourt with 17 digs.

In their second match on Friday the Pioneers fell to Nebraska Wesleyan 25-23, 25-22, 25-10. Kalinowski matched her dig total from the first match with 17 and Kudronowicz added 10 digs. Kudronowicz led the team with eight kills and a .250 hitting percentage. Sophomore Kaite Asche recorded three service aces.

In the final match of the weekend the Pioneers defeated Central 25-20, 25-14, 25-22. Outside hitters Kudronowicz and junior Hailey Youngren led the team offensively. Kudronowicz led with 12 kills and hit .312 while Youngren had 11 kills and hit .400. Sophomore CJ Johnson ran the offense and finished with 38 assists and the team had a .179 hitting percentage. Kalinowski led the defense with 25 digs.

The Pioneers travel to face North Park on Tuesday, October 1 at 7:00 pm.
