PLATTEVILLE, WIs. - UW-Platteville lost to #22 UW-Whitewater in four sets in the volleyball program's fundraiser to support Childhood Cancer Awareness.
The Pioneers took a set from the Warhawks but ultimately lost 25-8, 20-25, 25-16, 25-18 on Bo Ryan Court Tuesday night.
After a rough first set, the Pioneers turned things around in the second set to hit .333 as a team while holding Whitewater to .147. CJ Johnson led the way in the second with 4 kills, 5 assists and one ace. Hailey Youngren added five kills with zero errors in the second set.
On the night, Johnson led the team with 11 kills (.208) and 14 assists. Lauren Murphy played in the last three sets and came up with 14 assists and an ace. Madie Sailors led the back row defense with 12 digs.
With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 7-15 (0-4 WIAC).
On Friday, the team continues WIAC play in La Crosse at 7 PM before heading to Waverly, IA to play Wartburg and Nebraska Wesleyan at 10 AM and 12 PM, respectively.
