Volleyball starts season on a high note, Kudronowicz named all-tournament
The UW-Platteville volleyball team won its first two matches of the season Friday night before dropping two matches on Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Invitational.

The UW-Platteville volleyball team won its first two matches of the season Friday night before dropping two matches on Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Invitational.
The Pioneers beat Coe 25-18, 28-30, 25-21, 22-25, 15-9 before losing the first two sets and rallying to beat Franklin 27-29, 27-29, 25-15, 25-17, 15-12. On Saturday, UW-Platteville fell to Depauw 25-18, 25-11, 25-15 and Minnesota-Morris 21-25, 25-19, 25-16, 19-25, 16-14.
The Pioneers left their first tournament with a record of 2-2 but gained valuable experience with three 5-set matches.
In the Coe victory, freshman Olivia Kudronowicz and freshman Kaite Asche led the way offensively. Kudronowicz had 18 kills while hitting .324 and Asche had 17 kills with a remarkable .567 hitting percentage. Sophomore Madie Sailors
Against Franklin, senior Grace Austin finished with five service aces and 16 digs. Kudronowicz continued to lead the team with 19 kills and 23 digs. Sophomore Madie Sailors established a new career high with 21 digs.
Junior Katie Jones led the team with a .200 hitting percentage against Depauw.
The Pioneers battled for 5-sets against Minnesota-Morris and were led by outside hitters Kudronowicz and sophomore Hailey Youngren. Kudronowicz led the way with 16 kills on .268 hitting while Youngren had 13 kills and hit .241.
Throughout the weekend, leading the way statistically were Kudronowicz with 57 kills and 11 service aces, freshman CJ Johnson with 125 assists and Sailors with 66 digs.
