PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Pioneers struggled to get anything going Wednesday night against UW-Oshkosh as they lost 18-25, 16-25, 17-25.
UW-Platteville held both of UW-Oshkosh's All-Conference hitters to just four kills each, but the Pioneers' 21 hitting errors and 10 service errors were too much to overcome. Senior Allison Jensen led the offense with 10 kills while Freshman Madie Sailors led the back court with eight digs.
Before the match the Pioneers' six seniors were honored for their contributions to the UW-Platteville volleyball program. Seniors Allie Carter, Maddie Dower, Allison Jensen, Merritt Johnson, Ashlee Moore, and Karlie Niedert have combined for over 2400 kills, 3200 assists, and 1900 digs in their careers.
With the loss the Pioneers were eliminated from WIAC Tournament contention as they fell to 0-6 in conference play. Friday night the Pioneers hit the road to face off with UW-River Falls (18-13, 0-6 WIAC) for the last match of the season. Although the Pioneers have been eliminated from the post season, they will be playing for their first winning season since 2013.
