Pioneers sweep Lions
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Pioneers put on a dominating performance Saturday morning in Williams Fieldhouse with a 25-13, 25-14, 25-9 sweep of Finlandia University.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Pioneers put on a dominating performance Saturday morning in Williams Fieldhouse with a 25-13, 25-14, 25-9 sweep of Finlandia University.
UW-Platteville (14-13) hit a season high .431 and held the Lions (7-21) to just 13 kills in the match. Nine different Pioneers recorded a kill with Freshmen Kielyn Kapugi recording a team high eight kills while hitting a perfect 1.000 (8-0-8). Junior Sarah Murphy added seven kills.
Junior Sydney Soderbeck had a career high 17 assists and Senior Allie Carter had 10 while only playing in the first set. Soderbeck and Freshmen Madie Sailors each had a team best five digs with Kapugi and Senior Maddie Dower each adding four. Freshmen Kaylee Schilling led the Pioneers with two blocks.

UW-Platteville heads into the last week of their season with an opportunity to play their way into the WIAC Tournament. The Pioneers (0-5 WIAC) have matchups with UW-Oshkosh (1-4 WIAC) Wednesday night and UW-River Falls (0-5 WIAC) Friday night.
