UW-Platteville beat Central 25-18, 27-25, 18-25, 25-21 to highlight the Pioneers' play at their own invitational Friday and Saturday. Pioneers went on to beat Nebraska 3-1 on Saturday in Williams Fieldhouse.
Amber Williams (15) and Allison Jensen (14) combined for 29 kills to lead the opening-match win. Allie Carter recorded 42 assists, while Merritt Johnson has three aces; Lindsey Decker made 18 digs; and Ashlee Moore had three solo blocks. Central had carried a 10-9 record into the tournament.
The Pioneers dropped a 3-1 match to Augustana Friday night and fell 3-0 to Carthage to conclude the tournament.
UW-Platteville, 8-18 on the season, has its final home match Wednesday, Oct. 19 against UW-Whitewater at 7 p.m.
