Pioneer volleyball goes 1-3 at UW-Eau Claire tournament
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team went 1-3 at the UW-Eau Claire tournament, cruising past Buena Vista before falling to Northwestern (Minn.) on Friday, and losing battles with Minnesota Morris and St. Scholastica on Saturday in Eau Claire, Wis.

Junior outside hitter Rachel Ambroch and junior middle hitter Lidia Frias played well in the 25-22, 25-21, 18-25 and 25-22 win against Buena Vista for the Pioneers, logging 17 and ten kills, respectively. Senior setter Katie O'Malley also had 20 assists in the win.
On Friday night, the Pioneers battled with Northwestern (Minn.), losing in five 25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 10-25 and 2-15. Junior Amber Williams recorded 12 kills, while senior Lauren Grady and sophomore Kelley Lynch recorded 11 and ten kills of their own in the loss to the Eagles. Sophomore Allie Carter also added 26 assists to her 649 season total, along with 17 digs for the Pioneers.
On Saturday, the Pioneer defense was strong in the 23-25, 15-25 and 14-25 loss to the Minnesota Morris Cougars, with junior Lindsey Decker leading the way with 18 digs, and Carter and sophomore Maddie Dower close behind with 12 and ten digs each.
In the last game of the tournament against St. Scholastica, the Pioneers logged 30 total kills, but it wasn't enough to get past the Saints.
After weekend play, the Pioneers now have an overall record of 11-16, and will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 21 to take on the #12 ranked UW-Whitewater Warhawks in Whitewater, Wis. at 7 p.m.
