Schulman logs 1,000th game in Pioneer volleyball win
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team defeated Carroll University 25-20, 25-17 and 25-22 on Wednesday in Waukesha, Wis., which happened to be Deb Schulman’s 1,000th game as the Pioneer volleyball head coach.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team defeated Carroll University 25-20, 25-17 and 25-22 on Wednesday in Waukesha, Wis., which happened to be Deb Schulman's 1,000th game as the Pioneer volleyball head coach.
Schulman, in her 28th season as head coach, has an overall record of 636-364 in her time with the Pioneers.
"I feel very blessed and lucky to have been able to be part of the volleyball program for so long," she said. "The players and coaches I have worked with are amazing and make the journey fun and exciting. I can't believe it has been 1,000 matches; that is a lot of volleyball. I'm looking forward to coaching a few more matches."
As for the game, junior libero Lindsey Decker played well for the Pioneers, who improved to an overall record of 6-4. Decker logged 18 digs in the shut out win, while junior middle hitter Lidia Frias recorded 9 kills.
Sophomore setter Allie Carter also added 21 assists for the game, taking her season total to 309 in just 10 matches.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday to play Buena Vista University at the Wartburg College Tournament at 5 p.m.
