Volleyball takes two on first day of Millikin Tourney
After dropping the first set at the Millikin tournament on Friday, the UW-Platteville volleyball team went on to win six-straights sets, defeating Simpson 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-12) and then sweeping Blackburn 3-0.

DECATUR, Ill. – After dropping the first set at the Millikin tournament on Friday, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team went on to win six-straights sets, defeating Simpson 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-12) and then sweeping Blackburn 3-0.
Junior Jennifer Schmidt led the Pioneers with a game-high 18 kills, while freshman Allison Jensen added 10 kills. Lindsey Decker totaled a team-best 12 digs and Katie O'Malley led the 5-2 attack with 18 assists. UW-Platteville posted a 48-29 kills advantage to beat Simpson in four sets.
The Pioneers dominated Blackburn, holding them to just nine kills while recording 15 blocks. Amber Williams tallied a game-high eight kills, followed by Ashlee Moore with seven kills. The Pioneers recorded a .311 hitting percentage, as Blackburn hit -.123.
UW-Platteville takes on No. 18 Millikin to open its Saturday and then will wrap up the weekend against Dubuque at 1 p.m.
