Volleyball stumbles at Loras Invite
The UW-Platteville volleyball team was swept twice on Friday at the Loras Invite, first by Wartburg College and then by host Loras College.
DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team was swept twice on Friday at the Loras Invite, first by Wartburg College, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-20) and then by host Loras College, 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-18).
The Pioneers had a 35-31 kills advantage and a 12-10 blocks edge over the Knights, but UW-Platteville's 23 attack errors were too much. Junior Lauren Grady led the Pioneers with 10 kills and a game-high .389 attack percentage. Grady also posted a game-high four block assists.
Loras played a nearly flawless game with only three errors and 44 kills. The Pioneers played better in the nightcap with 45 kills and 16 errors. Freshman Merritt Johnson recorded a game-high and a career-best 13 kills, while sophomore Lidia Frias tallied eight kills.
UW-Platteville wraps up its weekend in Dubuque, Iowa on Saturday against Lakeland at 11 a.m. and versus St. Catherine at 3 p.m.
