PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- A day after earning her third straight first team all-conference honor and being named the recipient of the 2013 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Judy Kruckman Women's Volleyball Scholar-Athlete Award, UW-Platteville's Stephanie Kirchner adds first team Women's Volleyball Capital One Academic All-District® honors to her accomplishments on Friday.
A senior from Sussex, Wis., made the honor squad, which consists of NCAA Division III student-athletes in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin, for her work on the field and in the classroom. Kirchner boasts a 3.97 grade point average and is majoring in industrial engineering with a minor in business administration.
She secured American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America honorable mention honors a season ago and is a three-time All-WIAC first team selection. Kirchner is the first person in program history to earn All-WIAC first team accolades three years. She ranks in the top 10 of the school's all-time list in kills, attack percentage, digs and block assists and is the third Pioneer to end her career with over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.
To be eligible for the honor squad, a player must be a sophomore or older, be a starter or significant reserve, and be carrying at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average. Nominees are then voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
