Volleyball falls at UW-Eau Claire
The UW-Platteville volleyball team fell to UW-Eau Claire, 3-0, on Friday night in Zorn Arena.
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team fell to UW-Eau Claire, 3-0, on Friday night in Zorn Arena.
The Pioneers got out to a good start and took an 18-13 lead in the first-set. The Blugolds used a 7-2 lead to tie the set up at 20-20. A pair of kills by Kelly Schuh gave UWEC a 29-27 first-set victory.
UW-Platteville and the Blugolds went back and forth and were tied 15-15 before UWEC went on a 10-2 run to take a 2-0 set lead.
The Blugolds used another big run the third-set to take a 18-10 lead and cruised to 25-17 victory.
The Pioneers fall to 8-12 and 0-3 in WIAC action, while UWEC improved to 11-9 and 3-1 in conference play.
Sophomore Jennifer Schmidt led the Pioneers with seven kills, followed by senior Stephanie Kirchner with five. Junior Haley Jansen tallied 13 digs, while freshman Lindsey Decker totaled 12 digs and four kills. The Pioneers continued their two setter approach with sophomore Katie O'Malley recorded 11 assists and senior Allee Yundt registered eight assists.
UW-Platteville heads to UW-Superior on Saturday with game time set for 12 p.m.
