Pioneers Sweep Pair of Matches in Straight Sets at the 2012 Tiffany Robinson Memorial Volleyball Tournament
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville swept both of its matches, defeating No. 22 Carthage and host North Central, in straight sets on Saturday at the 2012 Tiffany Robinson Memorial Volleyball Tournament.
The Pioneers (20-8) hit .204 in the win over Carthage and followed that up with a .255 hitting percentage in the win over North Central. Furthermore, the UW-Platteville frontline registered 11 blocks in the win over Carthage and followed that up with seven more against North Central.
Against Carthage, junior Stephanie Kirchner had 15 kills and five blocks (1 block solo, 4 block assists) in the win. Junior Rachel Oldenburg also had a strong match with seven kills and five block assists; plus sophomore Haley Jansen added 24 digs and freshman Katie O'Malley provided 39 assists.
Against North Central, senior Samantha Rampart led the attack with 10 kills and O'Malley added 31 more assists to go along with seven digs. The Pioneer service game added four service aces and junior Stephanie Kirchner had another solid all-around match with eight kills and four blocks (1 block solo, 3 block assists).
The Pioneers, who have won eight of their last nine, will next travel to face WIAC leader UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday, Oct. 16 in Stevens Point before hosting its final four matches at home to close out the regular season.
