UW-Platteville Splits Two Matches at the 2012 Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team split its two matches on Friday at the 2012 Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.
The Pioneers began the day with a 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22 loss to Wheaton. UW-Platteville came back in its final match of the day with a straight-set win over Simpson, 25-16, 25-15, 25-18.
In the loss to Wheaton, Danielle Cushley led three Pioneers with double-digit kills with 18. Stephanie Kirchner and LeeAnn Mizgalski each added 13 and 11 in the loss; plus Katie O'Malley had 54 assists and four service aces. Kirchner also had seven digs and four blocks.
In the win over Simpson, the Pioneers hit .276 with Kirchner leading the attack with 15 kills. Cushley had double-digit kills for the sixth-straight match with 11 more kills to go along with three block assists. Mizgalski was also dominant at the front line with four block assists and Haley Jansen added 19 digs in the win.
The Pioneers will face No. 24 Carthage on Saturday at 2 p.m. and host North Central at 4 p.m. to wrap up the tournament.
