UW-Platteville Loses to UW-La Crosse, 25-19, 26-24, 25-18
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team dropped a 25-19, 26-24, 25-18 decision to host UW-La Crosse on Wednesday night at Mitchell Hall in La Crosse, Wis.
The loss snaps the Pioneers two-match winning streak, who fall to 12-7 overall and 1-3 in the WIAC. Junior Stephanie Kirchner recorded double-digit kills for the 10th time on the season with 10 kills to lead the UW-Platteville attack. Sophomores Haley Jansen and Andrea Larsen had 17 and 15 digs, respectively.
In the win, the Eagles improve their record to 11-8 overall and 2-2 in the WIAC. The victory also ends a four-match winning streak for UW-Platteville in the series between the two teams. Lauren Probst of UW-La Crosse had a match-high 11 kills as they outhit the Pioneers by a .171 to .055 margin. Also, in the win, UW-La Crosse had five service aces and controlled the front line with six blocks to just three for UW-Platteville.
UW-Platteville returns to action Friday, October 5 as they host the UW-Platteville Invitational. The Pioneers host Dubuque at 4 p.m. and St Mary's University (Minn.) at 8 p.m. inside Williams Fieldhouse.
