Pioneer Volleyball Loses in Five to UW-River Falls
Coming into Saturday's tilt against UW-River Falls, the
University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team had won three
of its last four matches that had reached five sets. The host
Falcons rallied to win the final two sets en route to a 22-25,
25-12, 25-23, 27-29, 18-20 win over the Pioneers.
The Pioneers (10-4, 1-2 WIAC) hit at a .311 clip compared to .180
for the Falcons. The .311 clip is the second-highest on the season
for UW-Platteville as junior Stephanie
Kirchner had her third-straight double double with 16 kills and
11 digs in the loss.
The Falcons (13-2, 2-0 WIAC) were led by the attack of Erin Green,
who had a match-high 27 kills on 62 attempts to go along with four
block assists. In addition, the Falcons had seven service aces to
lead the home team to its sixth-straight win.
Kirchner for UW-Platteville led an attack that featured three more
with double-digit kills including LeeAnn
Mizgalski with 13 and Danielle
Cushley and Samantha
Rampart each with 11. In addition to the attack by Green, Jean
Theis added 16 kills in the win for UW-River Falls.
Next, the Pioneers will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 25 when
they travel to Ashford for a 7 p.m. contest.
