Pioneers Lose in Four to UW-Stout
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville dropped a 25-17, 25-27, 25-19, 25-23 decision to UW-Stout on Friday night in Menomonie. In the loss, the host Blue Devils out hit the Pioneers in three of the four sets and for the match by a .264 to .206 margin.
UW-Stout (7-8, 1-1 WIAC) was led by the 22 kills from Molly Brion, who hit .477 to lead the home team. She was joined in double figures by Morgan Denny, who added 10 kills and five blocks - two solo and three assists. Setter Karley Wiensch had 42 assists orchestrated the attack and a front line of Rachel Tschumperlin and Emily Crew had six and five block assists, respectively.
UW-Platteville (10-4, 1-1 WIAC) junior Stephanie Kirchner had her second-straight double double and fifth on the season with team-high honors with 14 kills and 15 digs in the loss for the Pioneers. The Sussex native hit at a .361 clip in the defeat.
The Pioneers will look to bounce back on Saturday at noon when they face UW-River Falls.
