Pioneers beat Stout, set up showdown
The magic numbers for UW-Platteville were "3" and "0" Saturday, as the Pioneers beat host UW-Stout 3-0 and moved to 3-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
With the 25-18, 25-11, 25-16 win, the Pioneers remain tied atop the conference heading into Wednesday's showdown with seventh-ranked UW-Oshkosh. The 7-1 Pioneers play host to the 12-2 Titans in the home opener at 7 p.m. in Williams Fieldhouse.
Melissa Hillebrand made 10 kills, and Briana Kaiser had 9 for the Pioneers, who hit .365. Ali Sikic had 35 assists, and Abby Carey rang up 19 digs.
No player had more than six kills for the Blue Devils, who fell to 1-10, 0-3.
