Lombardi, Ward, Morawski Named All-Region
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Three members of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team were named to the 2024 United Soccer Coaches NCAA DIII All-Region Team on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Arianna Lombardi earned Second Team All-Region honors, with sophomores Lexi Ward and Jess Morawski each tabbed Fourth Team.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Three members of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team were named to the 2024 United Soccer Coaches NCAA DIII All-Region Team on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Arianna Lombardi earned Second Team All-Region honors, with sophomores Lexi Ward and Jess Morawski each tabbed Fourth Team.
Lombardi put together a fantastic offensive season for the Pioneers, scoring 11 goals while adding a WIAC-high 15 assists. Her 37 points was second-most in the conference and her 100 shots and 53 shots on goal paced the WIAC. The midfielder finished with five game-winning goals and recorded at least one point in 17 of 21 games played. Lombardi recorded a season-high five points with two goals and one assist in the Pioneers 3-1 win over Concordia Wisconsin on September 11.
Ward started all 21 games on the Pioneers backline that allowed just 0.90 goals per game, the lowest mark in the WIAC. The sophomore also found the back of the net once on the season in a 2-2 draw against UW-Eau Claire on October 12.
Morawski scored a conference-high 16 goals and added another six assists to emerge as one of the top offensive threats in the WIAC. The sophomore posted a WIAC-leading 38 points and scored eight goals across UW-Platteville's first six games, including a hat trick in the season-opener against Beloit. Morawski finished second on the team behind Lombardi in shot (78) and shots on goal (49) and her four game-winning goals were tied for the second-most in the conference. Morawski closed the season strong, scoring three goals across the Pioneers two WIAC Tournament games.
