WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (11-2-4, 2-0-3 WIAC) battled UW-Whitewater (5-7-5, 1-2-2) to a scoreless draw on Wednesday night from Robert W. Fiskum Field in Whitewater.
The Warhawks outshot the Pioneers in both halves and held a 21-13 advantage for the match. The majority of scoring opportunities for both teams came in the second half, with UW-Platteville attempting three shots on goal, while UW-Whitewater had eight on frame.
Sophomore goalkeeper Madison Way put together a strong evening, finishing with eight saves. That mark was her third-most in a match this season.
Offensively, sophomore Jess Morawski paced the Pioneers with four shots and three on goal, while senior Alyssa Peterson added three shots. Senior Arianna Lombardi had the team's other shot on goal.
The draw puts the Pioneers tied for second in the WIAC at nine points with two conference contests remaining. Next up with a home match against UW-Stevens Point (5-5-5, 2-1-1 WIAC) on Saturday night at 6 p.m.
