Pioneers Draw With Blugolds Saturday
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – For the second straight match, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (10-2-3, 1-0-2 WIAC) posted a 2-2 draw, this time against UW-Eau Claire (4-6-4, 0-0-3 WIAC) on Saturday afternoon from Simpson Field in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – For the second straight match, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (10-2-3, 1-0-2 WIAC) posted a 2-2 draw, this time against UW-Eau Claire (4-6-4, 0-0-3 WIAC) on Saturday afternoon from Simpson Field in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
The Pioneers scored first, as sophomore Lexi Ward found the back of the net in the seventh minute for her first goal of the season. UW-Eau Claire answered with its first goal of the match in the 18th minute, and the score remained even at one apiece for the remainder of the half.
In the second half, the Blugolds took the lead in the 61st minute, but the Pioneers were able to knot the game at two in the 75th minute on sophomore Alyssa Jarock's second goal of the season. Senior Arianna Lombardi picked up the assist on the goal, her 12th of the season and third in the past two games.
The Blugolds finished with an 18-9 advantage in total shots, including 11-6 in shots on target. Sophomore goalkeeper Madison Way finished with nine saves in the match, her second-most in a game this season.
Lombardi had a team-high three shots and two shots on goal, while Ward added two shots, with her one shot on frame resulting in a goal.
The Pioneers return home next weekend to take on UW-Stout at 5 p.m. for the third conference matchup of the season.
