Late Goal Secures Win in Conference Opener Against Falcons
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (10-2-1, 1-0-0 WIAC) defeated UW-River Falls (6-4-1, 1-1-0) 1-0 on Saturday night at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (10-2-1, 1-0-0 WIAC) defeated UW-River Falls (6-4-1, 1-1-0) 1-0 on Saturday night at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The Pioneers easily had the most scoring opportunities, outshooting the Falcons 19-4 with UW-Platteville putting seven of those chances on frame.
Grace Zelmmer stayed busy in the net for the Falcons and tallied six saves until senior Lydia Smith scored the game's lone goal in the 83rd minute, assisted by freshman Jorie Carr.
Sophomore Jess Morawski had a game-high 7 shots, with two on goal. Sophomore Madison Way spent all night in net, but did not face a single shot on goal.
The Pioneers will return to action on Wednesday, October 9 when they face UW-La Crosse at 7 p.m. on Breast Cancer Awareness Night at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
