DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (9-2-1) outshot Dubuque (5-2-3) by a tally of 20-10 but failed to break through in a 1-0 loss on Wednesday night from Oyen Field in Dubuque, Iowa.

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (9-2-1) outshot Dubuque (5-2-3) by a tally of 20-10 but failed to break through in a 1-0 loss on Wednesday night from Oyen Field in Dubuque, Iowa.
The Pioneers attempted 15 shots in the first half, including seven on goal. Six different players finished with a shot in the match, led by seven from senior Alyssa Peterson and six from senior Arianna Lombardi.
Dubuque scored the game's lone goal in the 67th minute of the second half, and the game remained 1-0 for the final 23 minutes. UW-Platteville had five shots in the second half as it tried to even the score, but the Spartans defense held strong.
In goal, sophomore Madison Way stopped three of the four shots she faced.
The Pioneers look to snap a two-game losing streak on Saturday in the WIAC opener at 5 p.m. at home against UW-River Falls.
