Morawski Scores Twice As Pioneers Beat Knights 3-1
WAVERLY, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (8-0-1) got back in the win column on Saturday with a 3-1 road win over Wartburg (2-4-1) from Salzwedel Field in Waverly, Iowa.

WAVERLY, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (8-0-1) got back in the win column on Saturday with a 3-1 road win over Wartburg (2-4-1) from Salzwedel Field in Waverly, Iowa.
Sophomore Jess Morawski scored in the 19th minute of the match to give the Pioneers the early advantage. The goal continued Morawski's streak of tallying at least one point in each game, bringing her to nine on the year. Senior Arianna Lombardi earned the assist on the goal, her seventh of the year.
Lombardi netted her seventh goal of the year in the 58th minute of the second half to help UW-Platteville increase the lead to two. Senior Alyssa Peterson picked up the assist.
Wartburg cut the deficit down to one with a goal in the 73rd minute, but Morawski answered in the 74th minute for her second goal of the game and 10th on the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Madison Way was credited with the assist after her kick bounced past the defense and allowed Morawski to chip a shot over the Knights keeper for the goal.
UW-Platteville was outshot by Wartburg 13-12, but the Pioneers led 6-3 in shots on goal. Lombardi led the way with five shots, while Morawski converted her three shots into two goals.
Way collected another win in net and made a pair of saves on three shots faced.
The Pioneers return home on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. match against Central (Iowa.)
