Pioneers Shutout Cardinals 2-0 Sunday
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (7-0-0) scored once in each half to beat Saint Mary’s (Minn.) (3-1-1) by a score of 2-0 on Sunday afternoon from Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (7-0-0) scored once in each half to beat Saint Mary's (Minn.) (3-1-1) by a score of 2-0 on Sunday afternoon from Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Senior Anna Spindle scored the Pioneers first goal of the game in the 36th minute on a penalty kick. The goal was Spindle's second of the season and second in as many games.
UW-Platteville controlled the tempo for most of the first half, as the Cardinals failed to attempt a shot in the first 45 minutes compared to seven shots for the home team.
The second half featured more back-and-forth play, with the Pioneers holding a 7-6 advantage in shots. UW-Platteville broke through for one more goal in the 62nd minute on senior Arianna Lombardi's fifth goal of the season. Sophomore Jess Morawski was credited with the assist.
For the game, the Pioneers outshot Saint Mary's 14-6 and 7-2 in shots on goal. Lombardi paced the team with four total shots.
In goal, Madison Way earned another win to bring her to 7-0-0 on the season. She made a pair of saves for her third complete shutout on the season.
UW-Platteville remains at home for a 6:30 p.m. start against Carroll (Wis.) on Wednesday night.
