Pioneers Remain Undefeated With Win Over Auggies
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (6-0-0) remained undefeated with a 2-1 home win over Augsburg (2-2-0) on Friday night from Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (6-0-0) remained undefeated with a 2-1 home win over Augsburg (2-2-0) on Friday night from Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Sophomore Jess Morawski got the Pioneers on the board first, scoring off a header from a corner kick by senior Arianna Lombardi in the 17th minute. The goal was Morawski's eighth of the season and she has now scored at least one goal in each of UW-Platteville's six contests.
The score remained 1-0 in favor of UW-Platteville for the rest of the first half. The Pioneers dominated the scoring opportunities in the half, outshooting the Auggies 17-9.
Augsburg knotted the game at one apiece just after halftime, and the game sat tied for the next 20 minutes. In the 68th minute, senior Anna Spindle put the Pioneers ahead for good with a header that found the back of the net off a throw in by senior Lydia Smith.
For the game, UW-Platteville held a 30-16 advantage in total shots. Shots on goal were a bit more even, with the Pioneers finishing with an 11-7 lead in that category.
Sophomore goalkeeper Madison Way stopped six of the seven shots she faced to earn the win. She made two big saves in the second half with the Auggies trying to answer after UW-Platteville's go-ahead goal.
The Pioneers remain at home for a Sunday afternoon match against Saint Mary's (Minn.). The match is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
