Pioneers Clip Falcons 3-1 Wednesday
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior Arianna Lombardi scored two goals and assisted on another as the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (5-0-0) clipped Concordia Wisconsin (2-2-0) by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday evening from Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior Arianna Lombardi scored two goals and assisted on another as the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (5-0-0) clipped Concordia Wisconsin (2-2-0) by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday evening from Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Lombardi's first goal of the game came early in the contest, as she scored via a penalty kick in the fifth minute to get the Pioneers out to a quick lead. The Falcons answered just a minute later, and the game remained tied at one apiece for the rest of the first half.
In the 57th minute, Lombardi netted her second of the game to break the tie game. Senior Lydia Smith perfectly played a throw in to Lombardi, who placed the goal into the right side of the net.
Sophomore Jess Morawski added an insurance goal for the Pioneers in the 64th minute of the match. The goal was Morawski's seventh of the season, and Lombardi picked up the assist, her fifth of the campaign.
UW-Platteville dominated the scoring chances throughout, outshooting Concordia Wisconsin 29-6 and 18-2 in shots on goal. Twelve different Pioneers attempted a shot, with Lombardi leading the way with nine total shots and seven on frame. Smith pitched in with five shots of her own, while Morawski had three shots, all of which were on goal.
Sophomore Madison Way earned the win in net and finished with one save on two shots faced.
The Pioneers remain at home for a Friday night match against Augsburg at 7 p.m.
