Pioneers Kick Off Season with Shutout of Beloit
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (1-0-0) opened its 2024 campaign with a dominant 4-0 victory over Beloit College (0-1-0) on Friday evening at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. Sophomore Jess Morawski supplied three of the four goals for her first career hat-trick.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (1-0-0) opened its 2024 campaign with a dominant 4-0 victory over Beloit College (0-1-0) on Friday evening at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Sophomore Jess Morawski supplied three of the four goals for her first career hat-trick. Senior Arianna Lombardi, who ironically scored the program's last hat-trick in the 2023 season opener, scored the other goal while assisting Morawski on two.
Chances for the Buccaneers were few and far between while the Pioneers dominated most of the game and outshot Beloit 32-4.
At the 16:06 mark, Lombardi found Morawski who drilled in the first goal from around 20 yards out. UW-Platteville doubled its lead later in the half when Morawski scored on a second-chance shot after the goal keeper was unable to secure the ball on the previous save.
After halftime, Lombardi extended the lead to 3-0 on a goal in the 58th minute with junior Izzy Streeter on the assist. Lombardi then sent a perfectly placed corner kick to Morawski in the 68th minute and she headed in the final goal of the evening.
Sophomore Madison Way (1-0-0) spent the full 90 minutes in goal and tallied two saves.
UW-Platteville will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 3 when they travel to Luther at 7 p.m.
