Pioneers Draw with Buccaneers
BELOIT, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (9-2-4) played Beloit College (4-8-5) to a 2-2 draw Wednesday evening on Strong Soccer Field.

BELOIT, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (9-2-4) played Beloit College (4-8-5) to a 2-2 draw Wednesday evening on Strong Soccer Field.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 2-0 advantage just ten minutes into the match, but single goals in the first and second half by the Buccaneers locked the score at 2-2.
Junior Arianna Lombardi scored her ninth goal of the season in the 10th minute to give the Pioneers an early lead. Less than a minute later, junior Lydia Smith scored her sixth goal of the season and doubled UW-Platteville's advantage.
Beloit started their comeback with a goal by Bri Paez in the 15th minute, assisted by Dakota Thompson. The Pioneers held on to the lead until Thompson found Cassidy Felix for the tying goal in the 57th minute.
Overall, the Pioneers registered eight shots in each half to finish with the 16-4 advantage on shots.
Junior Juliana Penniston and freshman Madison Way each spent halves in goal and each had one goal against with no saves. Maya Betzler finished with six saves in 90 minutes.
The Pioneers will return to action and Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 28 when they take on UW-Oshkosh at 6 p.m. in the regular season finale.
