Pioneers Win Fourth Straight With Shutout Of Warhawks
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (8-2-3, 3-1-1 WIAC) won its fourth consecutive match on Wednesday night behind a 1-0 victory over UW-Whitewater (5-7-3, 1-3-1 WIAC) at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (8-2-3, 3-1-1 WIAC) won its fourth consecutive match on Wednesday night behind a 1-0 victory over UW-Whitewater (5-7-3, 1-3-1 WIAC) at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Junior Arianna Lombardi provided the offense for the Pioneers, scoring the game's lone goal in the seventh minute. Lombardi received a pass from freshman Emma Verdon and fired a shot into the back of the net for her seventh goal of the season.
The Pioneers defense held the Warhawks to just two shots in the match, including none on goal. UW-Platteville finished with 20 total shots and nine on frame, with Lombardi pacing the team with seven shots and five on goal. Junior Anna Spindle added six shots of her own in the match.
Junior Juliana Penniston improved to 4-1-0 on the season and recorded her fourth shutout on the campaign. Penniston has allowed just one goal across the Pioneers four match winning streak, with 12 saves.
UW-Platteville continues conference play on Saturday when it travels to UW-Stevens Point (6-8-1, 3-2-0 WIAC) for a 6 p.m. contest.
