Pioneers Celebrate Senior Day With Win Over North Park
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – A second half goal propelled the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (6-2-3) to a second straight 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon, this time against North Park (1-5-5). The Pioneers also celebrated Senior Day, recognizing Vanessa Peterson for her contributions to the program.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – A second half goal propelled the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (6-2-3) to a second straight 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon, this time against North Park (1-5-5). The Pioneers also celebrated Senior Day, recognizing Vanessa Peterson for her contributions to the program.
The game was scoreless at the half, with the teams combining for 11 shots. North Park attempted seven shots in the first 45 minutes, but all four on frame were turned aside by junior goalkeeper Juliana Penniston.
The Pioneers broke through early in the second half on junior Alyssa Peterson's first goal of the season. Peterson dribbled up the field and blasted a shot into the back of the net to put UW-Platteville ahead in the 48th minute.
The Vikings held a 14-13 advantage in shots for the match, including 7-6 in shots on goal. For the Pioneers, junior Lydia Smith recorded a team-high three shots, while Vanessa Peterson, junior Arianna Lombardi, and freshman Izzy Streeter each tallied two.
Penniston notched her second consecutive shutout and made a career-high seven saves in her second start of the campaign.
The Pioneers will be off until next Saturday when they travel to UW-Stout for a road conference match at 2 p.m.
