RIVER FALLS, Wis. – In the WIAC conference opener, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (4-1-3, 0-0-1 WIAC) played UW-River Falls (4-2-3, 0-0-1 WIAC) to a scoreless draw on Saturday evening from Smith Stadium in River Falls.

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – In the WIAC conference opener, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (4-1-3, 0-0-1 WIAC) played UW-River Falls (4-2-3, 0-0-1 WIAC) to a scoreless draw on Saturday evening from Smith Stadium in River Falls.
The Pioneers recorded 10 total shots in the first half, seven of which were on frame. But the Falcons were able to keep the match tied at zero heading into halftime, as keeper Kaylie Krueger saved all seven. The second half favored UW-River Falls more in overall chances, as the Falcons outshot UW-Platteville 6-4 and 4-0 in shots on goal. Freshman Madison Way was strong in net for the Pioneers, stopping all five shots she faced in the match for her fifth shutout of the season.
Junior Arianna Lombardi and freshman Sophie Carlos tied for the team lead in shots with three apiece. The Pioneers finished with 14 total shots, with eight players attempting at least one.
UW-Platteville continues conference play on the road this week, with a Wednesday night matchup against UW-La Crosse on deck. The contest is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
