Pioneers Take Down Webster Friday
St. Louis, Mo. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (4-0-1) remained unbeaten with a 2-1 win over Webster (2-2-0) on Friday evening from WWT Soccer Park in St. Louis, Missouri.

St. Louis, Mo. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (4-0-1) remained unbeaten with a 2-1 win over Webster (2-2-0) on Friday evening from WWT Soccer Park in St. Louis, Missouri.
Freshman Sarah Liljestrand got the Pioneers on the board early as she scored the first goal of her collegiate career just thirty seconds in. Her shot beat the Gorlocks keeper high to give UW-Platteville the early advantage.
In the 41st minute, freshman Lexi Ward scored her first goal to increase the Pioneers lead to two. Junior Arianna Lombardi was credited with the assist, her fifth of the season and fifth of the past three matches.
Webster cut the deficit in half with a goal in the 55th minute but the Pioneers held on for a 2-1 win.
UW-Platteville outshot Webster 18-8 and 8-2 in shots on goal. Liljestrand and freshman Sophie Carlos paced the team with three shots apiece as 11 different Pioneers recorded a shot on goal.
Freshman Madison Way improved to 4-0-1 on the season in goal and made one save.
The Pioneers continue the road trip with a 3 p.m. matchup against Greenville.
