Pioneers Score Six in Win Over Coe
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team improved to 3-0-1 with a 6-0 win over Coe College (1-3-1) on Wednesday night on Clark Field.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team improved to 3-0-1 with a 6-0 win over Coe College (1-3-1) on Wednesday night on Clark Field.
After a 1-0 lead at the half, five more Pioneers scored goals in an explosive second half. Overall, the Pioneers held a 20-5 advantage on shots with 11 on goal compared to the Kohawks' two.
The Pioneers struck fast as junior Lydia Smith broke through in the 3rd minute to take an early 1-0 lead with freshman Amanda Dietz credited on the assist. Although the Pioneers totaled 11 shots in the first half, the score remained 1-0 after the first 45 minutes.
UW-Platteville struck early again in the second as sophomore Izzy Streeter netted her first career goal in the 47th minute on an assist from junior Arianna Lombardi.
It was Lombardi's turn next as the Pioneer scored in the 52nd minute to extend the lead to 3-0. Freshman Sarah Liljestrand was credited with the assist. Less than four minutes later, junior Anna Spindle netted another goal with assists by Smith and Lombardi.
Junior Vanessa Peterson scored her first goal of the season in the 70th minute on an assist by freshman Lexi Ward. Sophomore Morgan Beardsley was the sixth and final Pioneer to score on the night with the sixth goal finding the net in the 82nd minute.
Smith and Lombardi led the way for the Pioneers, each tallying four shots with three on goal for Lombardi and two on frame for Smith.
Freshman Madison Way collected the win in goal with two saves. Coe's Lilly Monroe suffered the loss while stopping five.
The Pioneers will return to action on Friday, September 15 when they travel to Webster University for a 5 p.m. start.
