Pioneers Draw With Blugolds To End Regular Season
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer played to a 1-1 draw against the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at Simpson Field in Eau Claire, Wis.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer played to a 1-1 draw against the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at Simpson Field in Eau Claire, Wis.
Freshman Katherine Ohlwein scored her fifth goal of the season in the 19th minute on the first shot of the game for the Pioneers. Sophomore Lydia Smith was credited with the assist, her 12th of the season. UW-Eau Claire evened the score quickly, scoring in the 23rd minute. Neither team could create much offense in the second half, with the Blugolds outshooting UW-Platteville 4-1 in the final 45 minutes. Senior goalkeeper Emma Ball kept the game tied, stopping the lone shot on goal in the second half.
The Pioneers finished with six total shots and two shots on goal in the match. Smith led the team with three total shots while senior Emma Willard tallied the other shot on goal. Ball finished with three saves on four shots faced.
UW-Platteville will compete in the WIAC tournament which begins Tuesday, November 1. The Pioneers will travel to play UW-Stevens Point (6-8-4, 3-2-2 WIAC) in the opening round, whom they lost 1-0 to a week ago on Saturday, Oct. 22.
