Ball Sets Program Shutout Record In Win Over Beloit
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Platteville women’s soccer team picked up its third straight win and sixth shutout on the season with a 2-0 win over Beloit on Tuesday night inside Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Platteville women's soccer team picked up its third straight win and sixth shutout on the season with a 2-0 win over Beloit on Tuesday night inside Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Midway through the opening half, UW-Platteville sophomore Lauren Lodico scored her fourth goal of the season in the 29th minute to give the Pioneers a one-goal advantage. Freshman Katherine Ohlwein was credited with her third assist of the year. Beloit had a pair of shots on goal in the first 45 minutes, but senior goalkeeper Emma Ball made saves on both attempts.
The Pioneers added a second goal in the 65th minute of the second half as sophomore Lydia Smith tallied her fifth goal of the campaign coming on a pass by sophomore Alyssa Peterson. UW-Platteville held the Buccaneers to just one shot in the second half to complete the shutout.
UW-Platteville outshot Beloit 9-4 and 4-2 in shots on target. Lodico, Peterson, and sophomore Samantha Yexley led the team with two shots apiece. Ball tallied her sixth shutout of the season, stopping both shots faced for the win. The shutout sets the Pioneer program record for most shutouts in a single season.
The Pioneers hosts UW-Stevens Point for a conference matchup on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
