Lydia Smith Sets Single Season Assists Record in Win Over Falcons
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team (9-3-1, 2-1-0 WIAC) picked up its second conference victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating UW-River Falls (9-3-2, 0-3-0 WIAC) 3-1 inside Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (9-3-1, 2-1-0 WIAC) picked up its second conference victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating UW-River Falls (9-3-2, 0-3-0 WIAC) 3-1 inside Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The Pioneers scored quickly, as freshman Katherine Ohlwein netted her fourth goal of the season in the third minute coming on an assist by sophomore Lydia Smith. UW-River Falls responded in the 35th minute of the first half to even the score at one heading into the break.
UW-Platteville regained the lead just three minutes into the second half as freshman Maddi Spencer-Strong connected on her fourth goal of the season following a pass from freshman Jenna Gravitt. In the 53rd minute, Gravitt added another goal for the Pioneers to make the score 3-1. Smith was credited with the assist, her second of the game and 11th on the season, which set a new program record for assists in a single season.
The Pioneers outshot the Falcons 14-10, while the shots on goal were tied at seven apiece. Smith paced the team with five shots. Senior Emma Ball picked up the win in goal, recording six saves on seven shots faced.
UW-Platteville will travel to UW-Oshkosh (16-2-2, 7-0-0 WIAC) for a conference matchup next Saturday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m.
