Late Goal Sends Carroll Past UW-Platteville
WAUKESHA, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team dropped its first game of the season on Tuesday night, falling by a late goal 1-0 on the road to Carroll at Schneider Stadium.

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team dropped its first game of the season on Tuesday night, falling by a late goal 1-0 on the road to Carroll at Schneider Stadium.
In the first half, Carroll outshot UW-Platteville 10-5, but the shots on goal were even at three apiece. Senior Emma Ball was solid in goal in the first half, stopping all three shots faced.
Neither team found much offense early in the second half, with both teams tallying just one shot on goal in the first 35 minutes. Freshman Jenna Gravitt generated the lone second half shot on target for UW-Platteville in the 58th minute following a throw in, but the attempt was turned away.
Carroll broke the scoreless stretch in the 83rd minute on a shot from Isabel Kothe that broke just out of the reach of Ball. UW-Platteville was unable to answer in the closing minutes as Carroll's defense held strong.
Carroll outshot UW-Platteville 17-7 over the course of the match, including 5-4 in shots on goal. Carroll dominated the corner attempts, leading 9-0.
Sophomore Lydia Smith had a team-high two shots, while Gravitt and freshmen Madeline Ohlwein, Katherine Ohlwein, and Maddi Spencer-Strong recorded the shots on goal.
UW-Platteville travels to North Park on Thursday, Sept. 8 for its final road match before returning home to Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 11. The match against North Park kicks off at 7 p.m.
