Pioneers shutout Eagles
ROSEVILLE, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team won its second game of the season 3-0 at the University of Northwstern’s Reynolds Field on Saturday afternoon.

ROSEVILLE, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team won its second game of the season 3-0 at the University of Northwstern's Reynolds Field on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Lauren Lodico scored her second goal of the season with a shot in the low right corner in the 13th minute to put the Pioneers on the board.
UW-Platteville added cushion to its lead with a pair of goals from sophomore Alyssa Peterson. In the 31st minute, Peterson shot high right off a pass from freshman Katherine Ohlwein to take a 2-0 advantage into the second half.
Peterson struck again, this time in the 53rd minute during a frenzy which included a blocked and then a saved shot by freshman Madeline Ohlwein. The keeper was unable to secure the ball and an assist from sophomore Lydia Smith set Peterson up for her second goal of the day.
Senior keeper Emma Ball kept a clean bill even with two final shots on target in the final seconds of the game. Northwestern held the advantage in shots 15-12, but the Pioneers led 8-5 in shots on goal. Ball tallied three saves in the second half while sophomore Juliana Penniston tallied two stops in the first 45 minutes.
Peterson led the Pioneers in shots with four and all on target.
The Pioneers improve to 2-0 on the season while the Eagles fall to 0-2.
Next up, UW-Platteville will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 6 for a 5 p.m. match at Carroll University.
