Viterbo takes one from Pioneers
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team dropped a non-conference game 2-1 to the visiting V-Hawks of Viterbo University in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium on Wednesday night.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team dropped a non-conference game 2-1 to the visiting V-Hawks of Viterbo University in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Pioneers (1-9-2, 0-0-1 WIAC) totaled five shots to Viterbo's (4-3-1, 0-0-0 CCAC) 10 shots with four on goal for UW-Platteville and five on frame for the V-Hawks.
Viterbo got on the scoreboard first with an unassisted goal by Katie Hilby in the 30th minute. The teams entered the half with the V-Hawks holding the 1-0 lead after the Pioneers nearly tied the game in the final seconds of the half when a shot by Emma Ball was saved by Abby Breitbach.
The V-Hawks extended their lead to 2-0 when Sydney King connected with Lexi Reesman at the 60:09 mark. The Pioneers narrowed the gap in the 81st minute when Emma Willard scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Alyssa Marroquin, but Viterbo would hold on to the lead for the remainder of the game.
Leah Kubasta had a team high two shots while Mariah Kennedy recorded three saves on the night as did her counterpart Breitbach.
The Pioneers return to action and conference play when they travel to UW-Eau Claire on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m.
