Pioneers fall short against Pitt-Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team fell on the road 2-0 Saturday afternoon against the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg to conclude the team's national trip to Pennsylvania.

The Bobcats (2-0-0) and Pioneers (0-2-0) appeared evenly suited with each team tallying 13 shots a piece in the matchup, but Pitt-Greensburg managed to find the back of the net on two of the attacks.

The Pioneers scoring opportunities were led by sophomore Hailee Sanford with three shots with two on goal while teammates Kylee Colwell, Samantha Hutton, Kristin Semenchuk, and Amber Lueder equated two shots apiece.

In the end, a goal by Tiffany Michalek at the 29-minute mark and an Ashley Lucas goal off Alexa Fetterman in the second half secured the home victory for Pitt-Greensburg.

Kathryn Flaherty and the Bobcats' Lauren Yoder each recorded eight saves apiece in the box.

The Pioneers return to action at home and face Central College on Saturday, Sept. 7 in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium at 6 p.m.
