Pioneers drop contest to Augustana
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team fell 1-4 to the Augustana Vikings Wednesday night in Ralph E. Davis Pioneers Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team fell 1-4 to the Augustana Vikings Wednesday night in Ralph E. Davis Pioneers Stadium.
Although the Pioneers fall to 8-9 overall while Augustana improves to 12-2-3, freshman Caelyn Steffens' 51st minute goal marked the end of a scoreless streak between the Pioneers and the Vikings' defense that lasted 347 consecutive minutes. Steffens' goal that was assisted by Ashley Peck now puts her tied for third place in the nation with 24 goals.
The Vikings came out strong with Karissa Gottardo scoring the first goal of the night in the 14th minute followed by Sandra Camarillo's 31st minute goal to put Augustana ahead 2-0. Steffens goal cut the lead in half before Gottardo stuck once more in the 57th minute. The night's scoring wrapped up when Marcela Arreguin's goal in minute 66 brought the score to 4-1 where it would stay until the conclusion of the game.
The night ended with Augustana holding the advantage with 9-6 shots, four on goal for the Pioneers compared to the Vikings' six, and the visitors held the edge in corner kicks with 12-2.
The Pioneers are set to wrap up their 2018 regular season schedule on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
