Pioneers fall 1-0 to visiting Warhawks
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer program fell 1-0 in a defensive battle Wednesday night to UW-Whitewater in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer program (8-7, WIAC 2-3) fell 1-0 in a defensive battle Wednesday night to UW-Whitewater (7-8-1, WIAC 1-4) in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The Warhawks managed to take the lead 1-0 within the first minute of play when a far pass to Anna Boyd from across the field left her able to break away from the outside and fire one into the net. The Pioneers had a last minute opportunity to send the game into overtime with a shot from Leah Kubasta from over 20 yards out hit off the crossbar. That early goal held the lead through the full 90 minutes of play.
Overall, UW-Whitewater held an 8-6 advantage on shots with two of the six pioneer shots on goal. Both Kubasta and Amber Lueder recorded two shots to lead the Pioneers. The Warhawks also had a 4-0 advantage on corner kicks for the night.
The Pioneers hit the road again this Saturday when the take on the UW-Stevens Point Pointers at 1 p.m.
