Pioneers top Blugolds on #SetTheExpectation night
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Platteville Pioneers defeated the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds 2-0 on Homecoming Saturday night at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Platteville Pioneers defeated the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds 2-0 on Homecoming Saturday night at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
UW-Platteville was quick to separate from the competition with both goals being made in the first half.
UW-Platteville's freshman Caelyn Steffens recorded both goals of the night to bring her season total to 21 goals. Steffens' first goal in the 17th minute was assisted by Kylee Colwell and the Pioneers led 1-0. Steffens' struck again in the 31st minute with an assist from Amber Lueder to put the Pioneers ahead 2-0.
The Blugolds held a 17-3 shot advantage over UW-Platteville with eight on goal for the UW-Eau Claire and all three on goal for the Pioneers. The Pioneers' accuracy along with goalkeeper Kathryn Flaherty recording eight saves on the night secured the WIAC victory.
Saturday's game was UW-Platteville women's soccer's annual cause game with this year's cause being #SetTheExpectation, a national program dedicated to combatting sexual and physical violence.
UW-Platteville returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 10 when the Pioneers travel to UW-La Crosse to take on the Eagles at 7 p.m.
