Pioneers roll past BVU
STORM LAKE, Iowa – UW-Platteville’s women’s soccer team added another win Saturday afternoon when they defeated Buena Vista University 6-0 at J. Leslie Rollins Stadium to improve to 4-1 overall.

STORM LAKE, Iowa – UW-Platteville's women's soccer team added another win Saturday afternoon when they defeated Buena Vista University 6-0 at J. Leslie Rollins Stadium to improve to 4-1 overall.
The Pioneers' freshman Caelyn Steffens earned her second hat trick of the year and brought her season total to eight goals.
UW-Platteville's fast start proved to be too much for BVU. In the 2nd minute of play, Steffens scored off a cross pass from Amber Lueder and the Pioneers scored again in the 12th minute when Taylor Gamble found the back of the net.
UW-Platteville went on a hot streak with Amber Lueder scoring off a corner kick by Gamble in the 23rd minute and again when Steffens struck from 10 yards out in the 25th minute off a cross pass from Hailee Sanford to bring the Pioneer's lead to 4-0.
The Pioneers continued to thrive in the second half when Steffens earned her third goal of the day from a rebound off her own pass at the left side of the net.
Gamble scored her second goal of the game in the 57th minute to bring the Pioneers to a 6-0 lead.
The host team outshot the Pioneers 14-13, but the Pioneers held a 9-4 advantage put on frame.
The Pioneers' goalkeeper Kathryn Flaherty recorded 4 saves for the day.
UW-Platteville returns home on Wednesday when they play host to University of Dubuque at 5 p.m.
