Pioneers pull away late to beat BVU
Taylor Martin scored the tie-breaking goal with under 14 minutes to play, leading UW-Platteville to a 3-1 victory over visiting Buena Vista University Saturday on a hot Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium pitch.
Martin scored at 76:49, and Bianca Mahoney added an insurance goal with 96 seconds remaining for the Pioneers, who improved to 5-3 on the year. Anna Sobal got the team off to a quick start, scoring 4:05 into the contest. BVU's Caroline Maher scored the equalizer 1:18 into the second half, and the score remained tied until Martin's shot.
The Pioneers play at the University of Dubuque Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Pioneers lose to Coe
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers came up short against Coe College 0-6 on Wednesday, Sept. 20 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Both teams had shots at the goal, Coe 10, Pioneers five, but Coe's goalie was able to block every one of the Pioneers. Six different players scored for the Kohawks, who registered five goals in the second half.
