PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team lost to the University of Dubuque Spartans 2-0 Sunday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. This loss drops the Pioneers to 4-3 on the season.
The game began as a defensive battle, as both teams were able to limit their opponents shot attempts. The Spartans got the scoring started on a penalty kick goal from Brianna Burkart at the 29-minute mark in the first half. Dubuque was able to get an insurance goal on a shot from Lauren Cangelosi with under 2 minutes left in the first half. This ended up being all the scoring, as the teams both played strong defense in the second half.
