UW-Platteville suffers first set back of 2016
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team lost to the Ripon College Red Hawks 2-0 Wednesday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. Both teams entered the game with 2-0 records on the season.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team lost to the Ripon College Red Hawks 2-0 Wednesday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. Both teams entered the game with 2-0 records on the season.
Ripon forward Kaylee Tadych started the scoring with 4:30 left in the first half, giving Ripon a 1-0 lead, as she was able to weave her way through the Pioneer defense and create a one-on-one opportunity with Pioneers Goalie Mariah Kennedy. The Red Hawks were able to keep Platteville of the board for the rest of the half, and took a 1-0 lead into the half.
After a back and forth start to the second half, Ripon added another goal on a Paige Birschbach penalty kick with 11:58 left in the game. Ripon was able to hold off the Pioneers' offense and held on to it lead and win the game 2-0.
With the loss UW-Platteville moves to 2-1 on the season. The team takes its first road trip in its next game against Simpson College on Saturday Sept. 10. Simpson will enter the game at 0-2-2 following ties against Grinnell College and Concordia and losses to Judson and St. Mary's. The Pioneers will next play at home on Sept. 14 against Rockford College.
