Aggressive offense leads UW-Platteville past Coe
The UW-Platteville Pioneers women’s’ soccer team played host to the Coe College Kohawks on Saturday, September 3, 2016. In a wire-to-wire victory, UW-Platteville won the game 4-2. This victory moves the Pioneers’ record to 2-0.

UW-Platteville got on the board first with a long goal from sophomore Maddy Meeker 29:45 into the first half. The Pioneer offense stayed sharp and aggressive, and added another goal with 4:26 left in the first half, coming from midfielder Taylor Martin. This goal made the score 2-0 and the Pioneers held this lead to finish the half.
The Pioneers struck again early in the second half, with Yamilex Jaramillo scoring her second goal of the year. With the score at 3-0 the Kohawks of Coe College finally cracked into the scoring column with a header by Senior Kelsey Fauser. The Pioneers were able to regain their three-oal lead minutes later on a free kick goal scored by Emily Phillips with 21:03 left in the game. Coe managed to score once more late in the game with a goal by Delena Humble.
UW-Platteville will next play on Wednesday Sept. 7 at Pioneer Stadium against Ripon. The Red Hawks will enter the game with a 2-0 record following wins against Maranatha Baptist and Lakeland College. The game will be played at 7 p.m.
