PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team defeated Edgewood College 2-1 on Monday in Madison, Wis.
After Edgewood scored a the lone goal of the half early in the game, the Pioneers responded in the second half when sophomore Anna Sobal beat the Edgewood goalkeeper to the ball on a pass from junior Emily Phillips in front of the net to tie the game 1-1.
With about 20 minutes left in the game, Phillips recorded her third goal of the season off a failed clear by the Edgewood defender to give the Pioneers the 2-1 victory over the Eagles.
Senior goalkeeper Katie Rash logged three crucial saves in the win.
The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at Grinnell College at 4 p.m.
